Thursday, at 3:05 PM, police responded to the scene of a shooting just south of 35th Avenue and Dodge Streets. George R. Combs, 42, was transported to Creighton University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Combs also had gone by the alias Alexis Combs.

Friday morning, Davarus Neelon, 26, was shot in the chest at 4226 Ohio Street, where Kennetta Gunn lived with her three little boys. A short time later, police arrested Antonio McNichols, 33, Gunn's ex-boyfriend and father of two of her sons. Four children were in his car with him when police stopped it and arrested him. The children were unharmed physically. Interviews with relatives, postings on social networking sites and court documents indicated that Gunn and McNichols had split up in recent months, that he was very close to the children, that he had been upset about the breakup and that she had a new boyfriend.

At 2:00 PM Sunday, we will meet about one-half block North of 35th Street at Dodge Street. Parking is very limited but on Sunday there should be some business parking on Dodge and also along Davenport one-half block North of the site. Family and neighbors of George Combs will be there.
